Pretty much a copypasta of what I told shiningdays:
About the brushing in the BG, I think I just stroked the path with the wrong type of brush because that's not stretched at all but it did leave tell-tale signs that it was a hard brush on full flow and opacity by the 'bumbs'. I noticed this but wasn't bothered enough by it to change it.
Regarding her hair ornament, I figured I had a little breathing room since her hair itself had some shadowing, giving it less of a 'flat' look in contrast to the rest of the wallpaper.
The hair is a different story; I had every intention of using Illustrator for the hair but I started messing with it in Photoshop and just continued until I was finished so as not to lose my momentum. But because I didn't use Illy, it's not as seemless as I could've made it. I didn't bother going all out on it.
Thanks for the critique.
Well, to be honest, the trace seems a little flat, and the background isn't much to root for (but then again, mine are never very good, either). I don't know if the screencap you used looked this flat to begin with, but yeah, it's a little on the flat side. It could use a whole bunch of shading.
You might want to try to do your next vector using dynamic lines, too, the trace usually looks a whole lot better.
ya, the screen shot was that flat and i'm not confident enough in vectoring to figure out where the shadows should go. i think i would just end up ruining it. thx for the tutorial, i've seen that one before. i just find it too hard to follow, it might be the lack of pics and too much reading ;P heh
i actually just finished a burst angel vector, it has different sized lines. you should check it out ;) let me know if it looks odd or ok.
